Freelance Researchers (Guides)
Travelers are finding themselves increasingly frustrated with the huge amount of information online. mygola aims to solve this problem by providing them a human guide who's an expert in finding such information online. We're hoping that guide would be you.As a guide, you'll be part of a growing community of tech-savvy travel enthusiasts answering these questions. You'll interact directly with travelers - backpackers, honeymooning couples, business executives - from all over the world traveling to destinations all over the world.
Requirements:
- Search Ability: Someone who understands how to use the web to research information. Google, yes, but also travel message boards, sites like Tripadvisor, New York Times and so on. We'll train you in using some of these, but you should demonstrate the ability to sift through a large volume of information quickly and understand when information on the web is credible.
- Writing Ability: A strong writer whose content is not only informative and factual, but synthesizes various opinions crisply. Because we trust our Guides to publish their own content, we'll also be looking for writing that is free of spelling and grammar errors.
- Passion for Travel: Someone who loves traveling and is motivated by the idea of researching and writing about destinations they'd love to visit.

Software Engineer: Web development
As an engineer, you'll work on the development of our end-user facing website. You will take on and improve the existing backend of the site and allow us to rapidly launch new features. You'll need to combine these strong backend skills with a solid grasp of frontend technologies that allow elegant, responsive web UIs to be built. Throw in a little design intuition (i.e. color palettes, when to refrain from using AJAX, etc.) and you're probably the One we're looking for.
Requirements:
- BA or BS degree in computer science or a related technical degree
- LAMP stack. Extremely proficient with PHP/MySQL programming (1-3 yrs)
- Solid skills designing modular, object-oriented JavaScript. An ability to build graceful user experiences with modern AJAX / DOM techniques. Should be able to leverage libraries like GWT and YUI (1-3 yrs). Reasonable CSS skills
- Knowledge of scalable deployment techniques (such as Amazon Web Services)
- Basic understanding of high performance, scalable architecture & design
Plus: if you can pick up existing code-base written in Perl, more power to you.
We'll expect you to religiously keep track of what's going on in the world of web apps (read TC, write fb apps, etc). Experience in an early-stage startup or other rapid-application-development environments is a huge plus.

Content Associate
As a part of the content team, you will be researching, evaluating and creating content for the end user. You will create clear and concise content that will be viewed across the world. You will need to review content created by teammates as well as mentor new joinees to get them up to speed. You will also work closely with the technology team to come up with combined solutions to improve customer experience as well as internal efficiency.
Requirements:
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills using different kind of media (text, pictures, videos) to ensure an extremely engaging user experience
- BA in Mass Communication/English Literature or related Arts subjects a plus
- Passionate about travel is a plus (please provide links to travel blogs, pictures, other relevant material). Note: the job itself doesn't involve travel.
- Using the web should be second nature to you (please tell us about what you use the web for and how much you use it)
