Philadelphia

Hi there,

A trip to a vibrant city of Philadelphia with an impressive past and a fascinating future sounds fun. And there are no dearth of restaurants serving global cuisines across the city.

Here are my restaurant picks for you serving Asian fusion, Italian and Thai cuisines as requested.

1. Victor Cafe

One specialty about Victor Cafe is that the waiters, waitresses, and even the bartender are all professional opera singers or training to be one,and they are all excellent as opera singers.Head here for the performances and for the old Philly ambiance. The menu changes frequently, with such choices as meat lasagna, two fresh fish offered daily, three types of veal (including a hefty veal chop), and a filet.Pastas here are homemade. This is a "must-go-to" dining experience!

Here is a review:

Dined here last week and loved it. Great food and service but the opera singers througout the meal were amazing. The menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone...fish, meat, pasta. Adequate wine list. It's a casual cozy atmosphere. The only downside is with it being in south Philly the parking is on the street...which can be very tricky, we got lucky and found something less than a block away.

Buddakan has a giant, gilded Buddha lording over its communal dining table. This restaurant serves fantastic food and the atmosphere is both lively and pleasant. Many consider it an upscale nouveau chinese cuisine, small portions, a bit pricey, but worth the price. They also have an extensive cocktail list.

Here is what a guest has to say:

First time dining at Buddakan. I went for lunch with a friend, taking advantage of the Restaurant Week Menu. The food was absolutely incredible. I had the Shrimp and Scallop Spring Roll, Chicken & Ginger Dumplings, Wasabi Tuna Tataki and Panna Cotta for dessert. At first, the portions of the three items making up the 'bento box' seemed a little small - but they were perfectly portioned and left me very satisfied. The dumplings were moist and delicious. The spring roll was flaky and extremely flavorful. The tuna was extremely fresh and nice hints of wasabi. My favorite part of the meal was the Panna Cotta (with white chocolate and passion fruit, raspberry foam) - probably one of the best desserts I've ever had. Light, extremely flavorful, and just incredible. The entire staff was very welcoming, friendly, and smiled a lot. The decor was interesting and the overall atmosphere was lively and exciting. I'd love to come back!
