Restaurants in Amritsar, Chandigarh and Patiala
Thinking of a 7 day trip in Oct to Punjab. I need help with food - local cuisine, vegetarian.
I am traveling with parents - 56 years.
The city called "Holy pool of nectar', Amritsar is a definite must-visit in punjab. Home to the Golden Temple, the spiritual touch seems to have permeated the entire city. Listed below are a few places to eat.
Novelty Sweets is the most famous restaurants offering the best local food. It is famous for its aloo tikkis and jalebis. The aloo tikkis are made with onions and black gram and with the potatoes shallow fried even before they are made into tikkis and fried again.

It is highly recommended to complete your Punjabi food experience by visiting the Brothers Dhaba.
Brothers Dhaba also known as Bade Bhai aka Brothers Dhaba is an offshoot of the Bharawan Da Dhaba located next door. It is known that the elder brother of the family who owned the Bharawan
Da Dhaba decided to start up on his own and gave birth to the Brothers Dhaba in 2001. Although the two joints run next to each other there is no apparent trouble between the two.
Brothers Dhaba is clearly positioned higher on the hygiene platform at a relative level.
It is an air conditioned set up and the staff is uniformed and is also very prompt in service.
All in all a must visit to taste some authentic punjabi food.
The Daal makhani I had at this place was beyond comparison. Anything that you order will come loaded with Ghee but the taste buds will love it. The Naan and Kulchas were truly melt in the mouth. Don't go there for the ambiance, but for the best food in Amritsar don't go anywhere else

Another restaurant is Copper Chimney. Though a little on the expensive side, it is a great option for some occasional fine dining with family. Along with some great food and posh ambiance, the service is efficient too. Quite worth a try.
Here is a guest review:
We went there for one of our project party. Its located in Sector 26 Chandigarh where you can find many of the fanous Chandigarh restraunts. In snacks I love the chicken malai tikka. That was one of the best chicken tikka, I have ever eaten with dlecious green chatni. Main course is good , nothing too special about that. The restraunt can be a bit costly for your pocket but its worth trying on spacial occasions

Another restaurant that you could try is Hotel Dhillon Residency. They serve Indian food and is considered as good in both quality and quantity.
Here is a comment by a diner:
Dhillon Residency has good place to sit with family and friends. Rates were also not much costly as compared to similar hotels. Service was also good. Ambiance of restaurant was very good and peaceful. Will go here again definitely.
