Vidya's answer about where to eat in Plymouth
Restaurants in Plymouth

Hiya!

Plymouth is a charming little port city and is famous for its lovely cobbled streets and the ancient harbor area of Barbican. And there are some wonderful restaurants here to suit everyone's taste buds.

I am going to recommend some really nice hangouts in the city where its easy to have a great time and mingle with the local crowds. Take a look -

Sprouts is a great place to have fresh seafood and vegetarian cuisines. Now if you like to get a proper restaurant feeling without much expense, and not just eat by a side snack bar, here is where you need to go.

A perfect location for a quick breakfast or elaborate lunch/ dinner, Sprouts is equally good for vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Here's the guests' opinion on the restaurant:

Great food, staff and price. Every time i visit there is some small improvement which make the place even better. The food is really nice and some dishes are pretty interesting. What really stands out is how welcome you feel here, the care all the staff seem to put in. Just a great place for a meal out. Also best breakfast in Plymouth. Don't be put off by the area it is totally safe and with the development of Millbay it can only improve.

Sprouts has been recommend to me on numerous occasions and today I finally had the chance to go and what a great experience it was. The restaurant has a very rustic yet clean and hygienic with very welcoming staff. The value for money is unbelievable and does not comprise in quality or quantity of the food whatsoever. A great Asset to Union Street, would recommend to anyone.

The B Bar is the ultimate joint in Plymouth for some authentic Thai food, that is well complemented by the performance bar where various musicians and artistes perform and entertain the crowds.

The restaurant caters to vegetarians, vegans and everyone else who is interested in Thai food. You get refreshing tea, chocolate and coffee with fresh Thai noodles and other dishes, and to give them company is the mind-blowing jazz/ blues music.

A favorite with the locals and highly recommended by me!

Here are a few reviews:

This is one of my favourite places to go in Plymouth. Tend to go when there's a live act on, which is pretty regularly, and eat before the act comes on. The food is pretty good and great value. If you like hot food then some of the dishes are perfect for you! The best thing about this place is the calibre of the live acts though.

As a visitor to Plymouth, I came here for some food last Saturday evening. First impressions of bar was nice and relaxed and other patrons outwardly appeared to reflect that vibe.

I ordered masman curry, cola and a beer. Curry served in a box, but done in a Bohemian fashionable way. Dont let this way of serving to discourage you visiting.

Curry was fragrant, chicken and potatoes tender. Excellent. Service was friendly and laid back. Definitely return.

Cap'n Jaspers is a lovely restaurant at the Barbican in Plymouth where the food is amazingly reasonable and the service excellent. The views are equally amazing sitting al fresco at this restaurant.

The food is freshly cooked to order and their Jasperizer burger and bacon sandwiches are extremely popular with the locals.

Sitting on the benches outside, it is fun to watch all ships passing by the harbor and feeling like a sailor yourself. The staff is friendly and always busy catering to the increasing crowds.

Cap'n Jaspers is considered a fairly legendary place in Plymouth and you can't say you've truly experienced the city until you have tried the Jasperizer burger. The food is pretty good and the location is amazing. Prices are fairly reasonable and service is friendly and fast.

Love this place, had a cheese burger to start with, followed by a jasperiser, then the half yard hot dog, all in one sitting. Forget your McD's this place knocks them for six.

You might enjoy going to this lovely joint near the Plymouth Harbor. Cafe Kiss is a mother-son duo run cafe bar in Plymouth that is quite renowned for great food and excellent outdoor seating.

The place is popular for light meals that include sandwiches, salads, soups and some delicious fish-cakes. An excellent combination of quality food, great service and reasonable prices.

A couple of reviews:

Amazing home-cooked food, good drink selection, great location and service with a smile. Could not ask for a better place to grab a reasonably-priced bite to eat. Have been 3 times and each has been a pleasure. Would highly recommend and go again :)
