Hi there,

Bacolod is supposed to be the cleanest and greenest and the most livable city in the Philippines. It is known as the City of Smiles because of its MassKara Festival,a Mardi Gras-like festival and a spectacular vivid mix of dance, color and music.

Here are my hotel options for you in the city.

We stayed here for two weeks during Oct/Nov 2011 and found the place very relaxing. Its not shiny and new like you would find in a chain. It's fairly 'old-style' but that was part of the charm. The staff were all very pleasant and we particularly liked the fact that there was a very relaxed feel about the place. They have wi-fi and a PC you can use for printing things off. The menu in the restaurant is a bit limited but nevertheless we ate breakfast there every day without fail. We ate out in the evenings although I did have a steak there on the last night and that was really good.

Here is what a guest has to say:

I'm resting here in the hotel as I write this. The rooms are clean and nice. Hotel personnel from front desk to room service are helpful and accommodating. Most importantly, they are quick to address to your need needs. I requested for a four-hour late check out and they're okay with that. Overall pleasant exterior and interior design with spacious halls that don't make your feel cramped. Met the owner yesterday and he was very nice and friendly. He even kept the elevator door open to let me in. Hotel may not be along Lacson St, but is very accessible. It's also right across Bong Bong's and Merci so it's easy to buy local delicacies to bring home. This is recommended for business and solo travelers.

Here is a review:

We have been to Check Inn numerous times in the last 2 years. Very happy with staff and the accomodations and the rates. It's very centrally located with great vendors, restaurants and the mall nearby. They have a good money changer, phone-load store, massage co & a little fitness center and a snack shop just off the lobby and a nice medium size conference room on top floor. The new rooms around the fountain at the top floor are really nice. I only had a problem with an AC unit in my room 1 time - but they took care of it pronto. All things considered - its a great hotel.
