So first rentals for SFO I trawled through some websites for car rentals and the brand that is working out the cheapest is Fox which I saw on both expedia.com and kayak.com. All the others like Dollar and Budger were over the $500 mark as the total price. I tried figuring cheaper rates from other locations but I think Fox works out the best from the airport.
